Day 71/ White Rose with Larkspur #Flickr12Days

I’ve tried to make the paragraphs below shorter, but really…."precise"/"concise" aren’t really my favorite english words. If you read the whole thing, kudos to you! Thank you for reading and viewing! Every single view really means alot to me 🙂

I’ve had this idea in mind for quite a while and I couldn’t think of a really good way to represent it. I’m happy, and also satisfied with the result, though I think that the composition isn’t that original. When I imagined this photo I immediately thought of this: taken by one of my favorite photographers , Patrick Demarchelier. It’s not that they are exactly the same, but i’m sure there are alot more earlier works that have used this pose that I did before.

This photo took really really long to edit, because 1/ I was not fully naked so i had to replace the areas where I wore my clothes with my skin, 2/ photoshop decided to hate me and gave me a hard time in editing the background and 3/ this photo is so meaningful to me (probably the most so far) and so there are still parts of me that aren’t fully satisfied with it.

I knew exactly where I was going while editing though, the artwork on my back (it’s not a real tattoo by the way, though if i go wild one day i’ll definitely have that on my back for real) is White Rose with Larkspur by George O’Keeffe. She’s one of my favorite artists. I saw this artwork in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and fell in love with it. I took a photo of the artwork and then used that for this photo.

When Georgia O’Keeffe painted White Rose With Larkspur, she said "Nobody sees a flower, really…So I said to myself – I’ll paint what I see…but I’ll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it." Just like how she wanted people to see how beautiful flowers really are, I just hope we can really appreciate the way we look, and embrace the beauty that’s been given to us. I believe every single person is beautiful in every single different way. Sure, I dream of having longer legs every night, but I love my legs, and I’ll continue to love my body, my face, and my everything until I’m no longer alive.
